I was scared to death, and Mad as HELL when I saw them Friday evening, about the stupidity of whoever thought that running on any highway (much less a major one) after dark, on a weekend when the percentage of drunks and/or tired drivers would be elevated ... Simply, NOT a good idea on SO many levels...

But it seems my worst fears came true...... Have had a knot in the pit of my stomach every since I heard on the late news last night that one of them (a HS senior from the Valley) got struck by a car while running on the Carefree highway Friday night/Sat morning ~ 1am, and was in critical condition with head trauma... Think I'm gonna go puke...

Yep.

I was stationed by Hillside. There are rules to keep the teams safe and many of them were not following the rules. There was one guy that came by my station running down the yellow line in the center. I yelled a few choice words at that moron.
